day for Bihar as India's largest IT firm's centre became operational in Patna.

May 12: Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Electronics and Information
Technology and Law and Justice on Thursday inaugurated “Bihar startup program”
as major IT giant Tata Consultancy Services opened its biggest BPO (Business
Process Outsourcing) in Patna. Interestingly, the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar was absent from the event for reasons best known to him.
As
per the officials who were present here, the startup program would open a bag
full of job opportunities for people in the state capital. This centre, as per
Rajesh Gopinath, CEO (TCS), is the beginning of shelling out jobs to the
youngsters of Bihar and it also flags off route to provide the infrastructure
of IT. ” It is a sturdy centre and would play a vital role in boosting the
energy of the entire area,” said Gopinath.
“This
centre would pave the way for a talent pool for the country. Also, it would
fascinate ancillary units and support units to the state,” added TCS CEO.

Prasad aims to spread the legs of BPO centres across the nation as it will
boost Narendra Modi’s digital India programme. “Ministry has given 46,000 BPO
seats under India BPO scheme and under this scheme 4,600 seats have been
allotted to Bihar,” said Prasad.
